Scarlet Seduction Charity CD |
|
What's the Idea?Like many people, we were horrified by the Tsunami disaster, and desperately want to do something to help. As many writers and artists in our fandoms feel the same, we hit upon the idea of making a charity CD of fiction and art to raise money. This is a long-term plan, rather than an emergency one, bearing in mind that the need will continue long beyond the immediate crisis. Of course, the tsunami is just one of many worthy causes. Edit, September 6th 2005. Since the CD was first proposed the devastation of hurricane Katrina has added many to the casualties of natural disasters this year. It has been decided, therefore, to donate the proceeds of the CD to International Relief charities in general, rather than specifically for any single disaster fund. We hope that in this way it will go towards the long-term aid of those affected by natural disasters throughout the world. ContentsWe want the CD to contain as wide a range of content as possible. In order to keep with the theme of Scarlet Seduction, it would be nice to have a redhead involved in your contribution somewhere, even in a very minor way. It's not, however, essential. Will you take NC-17? It will be an adult-only CD, because that reflects what we do here at Scarlet Seduction. That means we welcome contributions rated anything from K to MA-with-warnings. The only thing we ask is that submitters do give a rating for their work, and follow the rest of these guidelines. Will you take... We'll take anything except stories or art featuring non-consensual sex, or sex involving anyone under the age of 16. If you want your Prince of Tennis boys to have an illicit romp on the courts, you'll have to make it clear that this takes place once they're all grown up, I'm afraid. If, however, you want to write/draw about them exploring their growing feelings for each other without actually Doing Things, that's fine. The age issue is for legal reasons, principally. The anti non-con is because non-con squicks scribblemoose and she doesn't want to have to read any. She's not keen on death fics, either, but so long as you put a warning with your submission she'll put up with those. Or get Gwen to read them. ^_~ Yaoi, slash, het, gen, kink and other variations of sexual themes are welcome, excepting the restrictions above. Do you want exclusive rights? Absolutely not. You're welcome to contribute things that you have posted or intend to post anywhere else, so long as you're not going against any arrangements you've made with anyone else who's hosting your work, Do be aware, however, if submitting original material, that some publishers would consider this as 'first publication', and this may affect any contract they offer you. (This varies between countries and publishers, so if you're unsure, check the rules for your own circumstances. Google for 'publishing electronic rights' and whatever country/genre you're interested in for relevant information.) What sort of thing are you looking for? We're looking for stories, pictures, poems, AMVs, flash movies, ficlets, drabbles, sketches, games, rpgs, essays. They don't have to be new, they just have to be yours to give. Does it have to be fanfic? What fandoms? We're very happy to take fanfic/fanart and original work. There are no limits as far as fandom's concerned, either. Basically, we're looking for a wide, diverse collection that will sell as many copies as possible, so there's room for whatever you write! So you'll take any old rubbish? No. We reserve the right to ask authors to correct basic grammar and spelling mistakes, and to reject material we feel is inappropriate. And contributions must fit these guidelines, so read them carefully, please. What if you end up with more than you bargained for? If we get more material than we can fit on a CD, we'll make a double-CD. If there isn't quite enough to justify a double CD, we'll fit on what we can and put the rest on a 'taster site' here on Scarlet Seduction to help raise interest in the CD. We reserve the right to decide what goes where, should that happen. I don't write or draw. How can I help? We're also looking for people who are willing to provide raw CDs and cases, burn CDs, print covers and distribute them to their own friends, at conventions etc. Just contact us if you'd like to help this way. How to submitSubmissions have been reopened following the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. Please submit any additional contributions to arrive no later than 30th April 2006. This will hopefully give people enough time to submit while still giving us plenty of time to start selling. If you find you're running out of time and need an extension, please contact us and we'll see what we can do, but we can't make any promises! Please get your story beta-read before submitting, or run a very close eye over it yourself, to get rid of spelling or grammatical errors. Please send your submission in one of the following formats: Writing: Microsoft Word, Lotus WordPro, text or rich text file. Art: jpeg or gif (please keep file sizes as small as possible). Movies: AVI format and divx/xvid encoded. Please try and keep movies under 50mb if at all possible, or provide small and large versions. That way if we have room on the CD I'll happily include the larger versions, but if not we have a smaller alternative available. If you have any more technical questions please contact us, and we'll consult our experts! All work must belong to the person contributing it. (Usual fanfic disclaimers apply, of course.) You are welcome to sumbit more than one piece of work. Please send your contribution to cd@scarletseduction.info as an e-mail attachment. Make sure your e-mail includes the following information: - title of piece *Please note the web links will appear on the Scarlet Seduction site, not the CD, so they can be updated. We will acknowledge your contribution as soon as we can, hopefully within 3 working days. Categories & Media TypesPlease let us know which category and media type you would like your contribution to be listed under. This helps us ensure a good mix of content and helps us to arrange it on the CD. Each contribution can only go under a maximum of three categories, so please pick the ones that best fit your piece. If you have trouble narrowing it down, you can always give more detail under ' warnings/other info' in your contribution e-mail, and this will be included on the CD. Categories
